I have several Schmidt Parker style and rollerball refills that I have had now for about 4-5 years. They all still have the caps on the ends, would these still be like a new one or should they be tossed?
I am getting back into turning pens after a long hiatus and still want to give my customers an upgrade from the stock refills from the kits. And I have a few pens with the Schmidt refills already in them which I'll probably replace to be on the safe side.
Thank you!

Dude! I had a package of slim lines in my shed for over 15 years. They have been through 100 degree heat and 10 degree cold over the past 15 years. Yanked out the kits this spring and turned them all as "user" pens around the house. All of them are working without a hiccup!!!!

I have had a few be very reluctant to start working after assembly. I think laying on the side for so long allowed the ink to flow away from the tip. Sometimes a bit of heat will get things moving. Never had a Parker go bad, just the cheap Cross type.
