Never tried Dymalux specifically, but I have successfully threaded stabilized sycamore using taps and dies.

If you have a metal lathe with a live cutter and the right tooling you can Live cut threads on pretty much any wood .

I have not been lucky enough to do that, it seems the speed is not high enough. Did you really thread wood (pen size) on a metal lathe?
