My first Desire pen, won't be my last, absolutely love this pen. Hybrid blank made by myself, alumalite and maple burl. Gatsby is segmented with spalted jatoba, yellow heart and maple, cocobolo end caps. Stripes are subtle by design. GluBoost finish on both

Great looking pens Ken! I really like the Desire pen. The casting is amazing. It almost looks like surf pounding against the shore cliffs.

I also like the Gatsby "subtle" stripes, with the subtle angle - I can appreciate the amount of precise work that took. Thanks for sharing.

They're both fantastic! Coming out of the weekend with a beautiful segmented and a beautiful hybrid must be satisfying. I agree with @KMCloonan 's comment about the "crashing wave" effect. Love it!

It certainly didn't take you long to master making hybrid blanks. I like the subtlety of the segments.
The desire to make hybrids was the reason I wanted to start casting, that and watch parts pens. I haven't found either to be very difficult. Maybe I have just been lucky, but I have done a lot of research, so I think I'm doing it "correctly".
