I have done some basket weave pyrography on bowls and hollow vessels and decided to try it on a pen. I like the look but am not happy with the fit. I used poplar and the burning decreased the diameter. I noticed this while doing the lower barrel and left the upper barrel a little proud before burning which improved the fit. I will try a harder wood on the next one.

Are those all short streaks of a burning tool?
That must have taken hours.
I use pyrography to sign my bowls and I understand. That's crazy cool!
 
That looks awesome Cody. I've only done pyrography as decorations on stuff. I did this quite a few years back on a piece of pecan trunk. It's about 36" tall and about 14" wide. THE TABLE i did about a year ago. Nice work my friend!

THANK YOU for showing the picture of the coil. My mind was going crazy trying to figure out how you did that. All I could imagine is that you had trained an octopus to use a dozen different pyro-pens simultaneously!

Very nice. The unique pattern and the color of the blanks are accented nicely by the components. Great choice. Thank you for sharing.
