Hello everyone, i'm glad I found the forums to join. I'm a new member from Colorado, i've been making pens for a bit and picked it up thanks to needing a lockdown hobby. I ended up making a fair bit of pens from Japanese woods but found I really enjoy the hobby and I look forward to exchanging some tips and tricks with everyone, I thought I might show off a few things I've done which are a seam ripper make from Sakura (japanese cherry blossom) a laser cut pen kit I did for my dad, a japanese walnut pen and a pen and pencil set from a jack daniels barrel.

Welcome from Centennial. If you are in the northern area of the state, we have a pen group that meets at Woodcraft in Loveland once a month, you are always welcome.

Sadly I'm in Denver so it's about a hour trip for me up there, but if I'm ever in the area I will definitely pop by

Welcome from NJ. Hope you stick around and continue to show us your work. Fine looking pens. The fireman's pen is one I have done and it always gets rave reviews. Yours came out real well. Thanks for showing and have fun in this hobby.

Welcome from Aurora South, Colorado! Your pens are beautiful. Great craftmanship!

I started turning during the lockdowns as well. Ironically, I had started buying equipment before the world really knew about COVID, but really started turning once the lockdowns had started. I got deeply into pen turning this summer.

Seeing all these new Colorado people joining...is there any kind of Colorado pen turners club or anything like that?

Thanks! I actually got my lathe initially to start making wands and things like that. Pens were not on my initial list of things to start making, but after I did a few and sold them I was hooked. I'm not sure if there is anything for our area (i'm technically north denver) there was a member earlier in the thread that mentioned there was a group in Loveland that meets once a month but that can be a bit of a hike. I do wonder if there is something in our area.

Yeah, somehow, Pens are just...awesome. :D I'm hooked! I do turn other things, and want to turn more, but pens are becoming my first actual business with the woodworking. Love em!

Loveland is a bit of a hike if you are in the Denver area. I'm south of Denver, which is even farther. There has to be something in the Denver area though...
