Any advice On wood to use for a smoking device? Any woods to stay away from?

Any finishes that wouldnt be problematic? Wouldn't plan on finishing where there would be direct contact, but I'm assuming CA would be a very bad idea, even if not in direct contact with flame.
This isn't for a pen obviously, but didn't know where else to post this question....

You might want to provide more details on what you are trying to do - - -

I believe that the folks who make smoking pipes typically use woods that polish well with buffing, and don't actually apply a finish
 
I have a friend who likes to smoke tobacco out of a straight pipe. Thought maybe I could get creative and turn him something nice. It would be very similar to a tobacco pipe.
 
Tradition says briar. Innovative people say bog oak. Japanese people burn the surface before it could be burned.
