I have eight close friends on the long range boat I've fished with since 1999. The new guy gets this box at cost as did the other 7. Now to remove all stainless parts, sand, finish and rebuild it. This size is called a Series 6 as it holds four 3600 Plano trays.

While nothing I make is perfect, this one came together very smoothly and seemed to flow without trouble. I've had more dirt under my fingernails after a long day of work than the volume of putty needed, whew! I've made over forty of these so I should have learned something.

Small? My first thought when I saw the first picture was is there going to be any room for tackle with all that wood! As mentioned before another nice one!!! It might be too small to be used as furniture but it still looks like furniture.

Not furniture, more like art. Something you would hang on the wall. Another great looking tackle box. I've always admired your boxes. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks to all for your nice comments.

Today was special as a somewhat famous person who writes about nature for the local paper came to my shop for an interview. He is planning an article about me, my pens, my tackle boxes, my cutting boards etc.

Kind of a kick and thoroughly unexpected.

I notice all the attachment points, is their a leather carrying kit that goes with this box, or does this attach to your boat somehow?

Boats in the ocean can be rough and I've see 60# -100# loaded boxes flying in the air. It rarely ends well. We tie them securely to the tackle rack and other boxes. Adjustable bungees and nylon rope works well. The result is they stay where we want them. Mine has a prototype attachment plate that really holds my box in place.

Ok, those photos make it really clear, the placement didn't fully make sense when I first saw it, but now on the boat with the rigging and the ropes, it makes perfect sense! Thanks for putting it all in context!

There is a roughly 2" lip on most tackle racks. Attachments to the box, doors etc must be above it or bad things happen like the inability to open the door. A very famous tackle company did not follow this rule and the owners have 2x4s under their box so it will open.

Here is the completed box. Note the hard to photograph but highly evident chatoyant figure especially on the case. This one took seven coats of finish on the outside to get the glossy look I like.

it ships to Utah tomorrow.

Mark, please post a link to your article when it comes out. I don't know about others, but I'd sure like to see it :). I almost want to buy a boat so I would have a need for a tackle box as nice as the ones you build...
