Well I think I've managed it The Worlds Ugliest Pen. Always wanted to try and turn a Pen off centre and this is the result. It isn't going to win any beauty competitions.
I would be most interested in your thoughts and you certainly won't offend me because I wouldn't part with it but its still ugly.

I looked at it and thought, well, that's odd. Might make a good white elephant gift!
Nice one. Its a very comfortable pen to hold due to ovality. But yes its still ugly.
Maybe its a case of Don't call my baby ugly.
Quite difficult to make because you are trying not to hit the tube which I did hence the Ebony cap.

There are markets where functionality overrides beauty . The price premium may be enough to compensate for the extra work .
I couldn't bring myself to sell it. Its now part of the family.
Reminds me must stay off the Booze.

We used to have an Ugly Pen Contest - might be time to bring it back. 😊

Good job on that one.

This has got me thinking,an offset pen with three sides may look okay...

I don't actually mind the pen though, it's got quite a functional element to it.

I think it as potential holding the blank is a challenge I used a Steb Centre to drive the blank and a revolving centre in the tailstock. Because you don't have a lot of wood, staying away from the pen tube is tricky. Good fun though.

Your pen isn't ugly. I'd call it funky, in a good way.

This pen is ugly The Platypus Pen (it was purpose built, and the purpose was of questionable virtue. Good writer, though)
I like the wood and its certainly colourful and a good finish. I think my pen beats it for ugliness.

Unique might not, necessarily, mean it is ugly. As long as the fit and finish are right, that pen will probably garner a premium price from the right shopper.

Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beerholder.
