Hello All,
I have started researching getting a laser engraver and it seems like most folks use a neje brand. Has anyone used on Ortur and the Ortur y-axis roller?
I don't seem to find much mention of them here, was just curious if anyone has used them for pens before?

Thank you

Chris

Good morning Chris,
I ran across your post and thought I would share my experience with you. I have been engraving pens for a couple of years now. I started small with a NEJE and then graduated to an ORION (Chinese made Generic) 40 watt laser and have now moved up to a Glowforge. I tell you all of this to say that I am not an engineer by any sorts and I was looking for something that was Mac compatible. I want to spend as little time as possible learning a graphic design program and more time turning custom pens. The Glowforge has been my answer and has allowed me to up my engraving game significantly. When you look at the price, they ain't cheap. But they are a solid choice for our line of work. If you are interested, I can give you a link (as a GF owner I am provided a referral link from GF that I can share) that will provide you with a discount. Even if you don't want the link, I am happy to share with you in greater detail my research and some of my project results. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have.

best regards,
Chris

Thank you Chris.
Yes I would be interested in hearing your experience with the Glowforge. I had asked a rep of theirs if I could engrave a wooden pen and they replied "No, only flat objects"; so I would be very interested in hearing about your experiences with the Glowforge.

Thank you

Good Morning Chris,
Well that is technically not true...you just have to be aware of the engravable space on the pen due to the small circumference. I have engraved many pens withy GF, both wood and acrylic. The thing that makes the GF such a good machine for our work is that it is browser based and you can drag and drop your engraving.
