Has anyone made any of these pool cue kits yet?? I just received my order today but will not be able to get at them for awhile. Having work done on my house so locked up with them. But was wondering if anyone tried them and did you run into any do's and don'ts you would like to share?? Maybe a photo or two would be nice. Just seems like a weird kit looking at the parts. Does leave open many many pen segmented designs though.

This is a new one on me !!! . So can't offer you any tips, John !!

Just went to the PSI website to check on it .... sure enough, there it is !!!

I think I'll have to try it. . Looks like it might be a challenge to get a nice smooth taper over that length of blank !!!

Also, it looks like an awkward length of a pen to use as a "daily carry" .... LOL !!! .
My shirt pockets aren't that deep. . And besides THAT little problem, I don't see a pen clip either !!

There are customer photos here of two Pool Cue pens with inlays. Very cool.

I did see those photos when I ordered and they used the new inlay kit that was designed for that pen kit also which looks great. They must have sold out fast on the inlay kit. Maybe Ed will carry this kit too. Yes it is a desk top kit with no clip and it extra long length and the tube is long one piece. looks like the twist mechanism is in the nib portion. Could be some fun. Already have a few ideas.

I'm a pool nut. Collect cues and do small cue repair. I do not like the PSI cue kit. It has to be tapered properly. Not a great representation. However I know JT will come up with something. As for me... I'd start out with Cocob or Ebony for the butt..straight maple for the shaft. it can be with a joint collar or without like a sneaky Pete.. For the tip a piece of white acrylic for the ferrule. maybe a brown piece on the tip to and for the rubber bumper would use a iPhone type stylus. Would consider a wrap also.

Mal you mentioned turning a straighter trailer the length of the blank. You'd think we as experienced turners could breeze through that blindfolded. Yet for almost everyone I'd known this was a problem. Beads covers and any other weird shape? No problem but I straight line we get all shaky.
BTW John I saw those kits and I'm interested. I'll keep an eye out for them when you get to them. Good luck!

That was me. I have 2 more (bought the starter set) with CA curing on them. Was hoping to finish them today, but things didn't go as planned. I'll post some pics when I finish them.

Finally got the other ones done and posted pics in the show off forum. As far as making them, definitely make sure the set screw is tightened on the bushing slider. (Yeah, so I have no idea where mine flew off to, but at least I was almost done with the last one) Definitely use calipers. To me it's very noticeable even being a hair off, though one of mine is definitely a few hairs. At least the butt end purposely has a shoulder and doesn't require much precision. I purposely left some CA buildup on the ends until I was done sanding on the last 2 so the ends would be squared when I finished the ends on a lathe mounted sanding disc. Other than that, they went together really easily. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
