Decided to try just a clear pen body. We poured clear over a nickle plated tube with a tube in mold. It's not perfect but looks kind of neat, has possibilities.
I may try that next time. Did you let the Elmers cure before casting the resin around it, or pour it right away?Looks good. I'd try putting a coat of clear Elmer's over the tube then casting. Use the clear and not the white. The white will work but it doesn't dry clear. I've had trouble with the same issue and this was my fix.
It was there before pressing the parts in but definitely was worse after. I also wondered if squaring the end before turning might have caused it. There was almost a half inch of material to remove with the pen mill, it got fairly warm.Note the adhesion loss seems only at the ends. I am guessing trauma when pressing. I use magnification and a round file and really go to town on the inside of the tube before assembly. I would rather add a drop of CA from being too loose, than crack or damage the body, which Ihave done more times than I will admit.
