Here is a pen I finished up this weekend. I made it from vintage gray-lined cellulose acetate, black acrylic, and argentium silver. It is threaded for a Pelikan m1000 nib unit, which is their largest nib, and consequently makes for a larger diameter pen, which is why I used this particular material for the barrel.
The tubes are approximately 15mm diameter, with a 12mm hole, so their size is prohibitive to what you can make with them: basically make fatter pens or use the material for caps on a pen. The barrel of this pen is 14mm at the cap threads, which are triple lead. Over all, the pen is about 5" long capped, which makes for a practical shirt pocket carry. I made the clip and bands from argentium silver. I cast The cap band and clip body using lost wax casting. Normally I would have just soldered these from sheet or large gauge wire, but I was out of both.
the pen fills via piston mechanism, which I made the components for. This was a fun project, and exemplifies the type of penmaking I enjoy doing.

While I am still getting over the Barn Oak Pen, you hit us with another exceptionally nice pen 😜 Not that I am complaining though, keep them coming 😎

What is the dot on the black acrylic end cap of the pen body ? I am assuming something to do with the filling mechanism, but not sure.

Awesome pen John, I really love this big nibs!
What is the size of the thread on the M1000 nib?
Do you use any tarnishing protection on the silver?

Correct. It's a cross pin. I could recess it slightly and fill the holes, but I'd rather just own it as part of the engineering.

Something diameter by 36tpi. I can't remember. I use argentium silver, which is much more tarnish resistant, so I don't coat it.

John, I have observed you pen making evolve over the recent years. It has been nice to see. This pen is another step along that process, and is very nice. You designs and craftsmanship are top notch, and developing ll the time. Thanks for continuing to post photos of your work.

John,
Are the threads on the section or body? I am really liking the way this turned out.

-Brent
Well, this is an odd case. since the pen is a piston filler, the barrel and section are one piece. If this pen had a removable section, I would have cut the threads on the body. Threads on a removable section are less than optimal, since you risk unscrewing the section inside the cap.
