These two are the first from my new design. They are winners in my book. Definitely going to make more of this design. Critiques always welcome [emoji51]

Those are superb Ken! I really appreciate the new designs you are coming up with - great creativity. I've said it before, but your precision and eye for an appealing design is excellent. This design is a winner!

Thanks for sharing.

Wow I like these alot. It keeps the celtic knot look to it also. Yes more design colors are possible. Chalk that up to a new design. Well done.

Superb was said. Fantastic too. Both those words and many more. Love it!!

The top/bottom horizontal veneer (?) I thought went fully though the blank, but to complete the circle/arc it must angle somehow, and somehow very exactly. Or am I mistaken? Regardless I think these are advancing the art.

Well done!!

Infill,or veneer ,as your calling it does go all the way through, 4 times, once each side of the blank. And yes it has to be very precise.

I believe he is making circle / arc cuts with the band saw many times and gluing back other pieces , using both blanks .

Oh, oh, oh, o-oh!! Yes, I see it now. The horizontal infill at the top (and bottom) isn't from a cut that you made perpendicular through the blank... no, it's the top (and bottom too) of the infill curve that is the width of the blank. Yes of course, I see it now.

I didn't give it enough thought before posting, and I was tricked into allowing myself to think that because of the super-precision you have with the four arcs.

Ken, you are a master of the band saw!!

At this point, Ken, it might be appreciated by quite a few if you could please re-post a pic (or pics ... as approp.) of your jig,

Alternatively, a link to the previous thread showing the jig. . I think I have already largely forgotten what it looks like, and there may be some who have not seen it yet. . (I am having trouble locating it.)

Thanks.

You know ..... the more I think about this new design and view the resulting pens ... THIS is a HUGE improvement on a Celtic knot !!!!

Or, to me at least, that's the way it seems ...... lots more appealing and classy !!!!

Thank you ever so much for opening our eyes to this !!!!

As well as Mal I appreciate the picture too. I had just gone to YouTube and found one but yours is much nicer. Plus I have track, a knob or two and plenty of wood! I'm also assuming you used a very fine blade.

The blade is 3/16, kerf is .045. If you have a blade with a thinner kerf you might be able to get by without a 3 layer infill, even though I think it looks best that way. I went 3 layer so it would bend without breaking. You could steam bend it, but I didn't want to complicate it any more than it needed to be. Also , the infill must match kerf, just like a Celtic knot, otherwise it won't line up.

This jig will also make celtic knots. I posted a video of the jig in use a few months ago.
