Greetings from Nebraska! I didn't know for sure what forum this belonged in so I chose this one since it is pen turning related. More4dan gets the credit for the design and inspiration which came from his posts on Aug 27 2019 and Oct 4, 2019 related to Negative Rake Carbide Cutters. Thanks Bunches!
The tool is about the same size as the EWT Mid-Sized tools and it has a 20-degree angle ground in so that a standard flat carbide cutters present at the typical 20-degree negative rake angle. The handle is hard maple sprayed with a few coats of lacquer. The ferrule is a fitting made for Plex tubing. I drilled a hole in the back and filled it with #2 lead shot to add a little more weight. I used a diamond detail tool to cut in the decorative rings - I really should buy a set of wire burners I guess. There is something strangely satisfying about making your own tools, jigs, and fixtures. I haven't used it on plastic yet but I will do so very soon. I hope it performs as good as the EWT Negative Rake cutters.
Regards,
Dave (egnald)
