Posting this for a neighbor. If anyone can help or direct. Please PM me. Thanks a million. Frank

Our son Ryan is an ER doctor in NJ. As I'm sure you're aware, supplies are running low in hospitals. His administrators have asked their staff to seek out supplies from sources outside the hospital's normal supply chain. If anyone has a connection or knows of somebody that has or can get N-95 masks and other protective equipment, we would greatly appreciate the help.

Do you get emails from HatbotFreight? If so they just sent one out saying that they are donating to hospitals in need the following: N95 mask, face shields, 5 and 7ml nitrile gloves. They have links to provide to your local hospital supply office.

As I said before these masks and gloves and face shields would not have been allowed just a couple days ago until Trump got the ruling passed to get through the red tape to allow construction and industrial supplies to be able to be used by the medical field. I think asking here and this can escalate to everyone asking. They need to ask the federal gov to distribute the supplies they have coming in from various unknown sources now that has opened up. I am sure the Home Depots and Lowes and other hardware stores have been contacted or at least have made some sort of gesture to help. That is your best resource not one or two from members here. If there are people who have connections with big firms like that then they are the ones who should reach out to help.

Construction supply houses, electrical supply house, plumbing and so on are the better sources but and I say this with a big BUT they need them too because construction has not stopped.

This is a start. I'm on passing a request.

Better than nothing if none are available would be a volunteer group of virus free people who can make them. I would probably get the rolls of blue paper towel due to their thickness and fold them as some you tubes show and complete it a staple and rubber band on each end.

Once one gets started, they could probably each make one per minute. 5 people could make close to 300 an hour. These would not probably be N95 rating but at least N85-90. I am not trying to make light of the situation at all, but the seriousness of this dire situation demands something better than nothing.

REMEMBER FOLKS - masks should only be used on a doctor or nurse or technician for working with one patient; throw away and get a new one for the next patient, same as rubber gloves.

I got an email from Ken Rizza at Wood Turners Wonders saying he had a supply saying he was selling for a mask he otherwise sells for woodworking. That was a few weeks ago. Not sure what his inventory is like now.

The problem you see now is people hoarding and then jacking prices way up. It happens all the time in crisis and when something is being sold out never to be sold again. It is ashame and hope they all get caught for price gouging. Governor of NY was talking about this very thing today and how he is competing with so many states and agencys for the same items and the prices keep going up. This can not happen. Greed.

The solution to that problem is to move all positive cases to one facility within an area , as the Chinese did . Staff can then move freely , not having to worry about transmitting it to another patient , no need for social distancing , continual cleaning , changing gloves and masks , etc . MUCH more efficient use of limited resources . Those needing ICU get transferred out to a facility just for them , with a similar efficiency gain .

Doing all of that makes tracing of probable transmission routes from new cases much easier . These measures have enabled China to essentially clear the country of the virus apart from imported cases .

Unfortunately , unwillingness of politicians in the West to take the advice of public health professionals over that of bankers , brokers etc etc concerned only about their bank accounts has led to this very sad but avoidable state of affairs . At the current rate Italy , Spain , Germany , Iran , probably France , CA and NY state will each have more positives than all of China by the end of the week .

Hopefully , the oceans of tears to be shed will wash away all of the politicians responsible .
