Here's the first two hybrids cast from group 1. I'll be turning them tomorrow. I've never seen hybrid blanks made from cocobolo before, so I guess I'll find out if there's a reason for that.

Looking good so far Joe! Did you happen to clean them up with Acetone just prior to pouring your mix to remove any oils laying on the surface? That might be a factor if they don't hold up to turning.

I let them soak in acetone for an hour or so, then brushed the dust and debris out of the voids with a small brush. After letting them sit for a couple hours for the acetone to fully evaporate, I started casting.

Here's the first one. Turns and finishes just like normal cocobolo. It was pretty hard to get a photo of the blue. I think I'll stick with brighter colors for the rest.
