I started a new thread (Show off your pens) - first I typed my message, then attached photo files. The only action I could see to complete the post was the "Preview" button. How do I determine if my post is successful?
Thanks

Click on the "post reply" button. Right next to the "Preview" button.

Edit: Looks like you figured it out.

I have been through the same situation as MPVic.

To complete the process the button should be "Submit New Thread" .... [not "Start a new thread" ... because you have already started it, and by now have completed it, and just want to get it out there]

The intent is "start a new thread with the stuff you've typed in the form"

Jeff, I honestly know full well that your intent is absolutely the best ... and I hope I did not offend you by how I worded it ... just my opinion about the words on the button because I had exactly the same "feeling" as MPVic a couple of days ago when I started a new thread in SOYP. . I had everything finished, pictures in place, and ready to go and I see the words "Start new thread" ... again ... and I figured I had screwed up in some way because I had already seen those same words at the top when I first opened the SOYP forum.

I apologize for my wording seeming possibly a bit harsh. . I have said it before and I'll say it again that I really appreciate all the effort that you are still putting into getting this new forum software running and fine-tuned for IAP. It is really a mammoth job. Words can't fully express it, but ... Thanks again !!!

Not harsh at all! You all know I want to improve things like this.

I can very easily change the wording on those buttons, HOWEVER, they both use the same phrase string, so they both will say the same thing. Ideally, the one you click to bring up the form should say "Start New Thread" and the one at the bottom of the form should say "Start thread using this information" or something similar. Unfortunately two different button titles isn't an option.

So, is there a different phrase than "Start New Thread" that make sense for both buttons?

That is a really awkward situation, Jeff. . I find it weird that both word strings have to be the same. . I will try to think of some string that might do for both.

How about simply "Post New" ... but I may be able to do better than that, or someone else might have a suggestion.

And when you say "bring up the form" when talking about starting a new thread .... is it really "a form" per se ? Seems to me to be just like doing a "reply", by the way things look, from the viewpoint of just entering some text and pictures.

"Form" is the general term for the elements on a web page that you type in or click things. So the button brings up that page that asks for the thread title, text, and has some options like watch the thread, include a poll, etc.
