When I part off, especially when the end butts against hardware, I don't aim for square. I cut it slightly concave, or taper the cut from the outer diameter to the center. This makes the outer edge contact before the center, and eliminates the gap.
It looks good, and makes me want to make one. The shape looks comfortable.
Any gap is not very noticeable Obi Wan. The shape looks very nice, but the picture I really like! Its tough to get the metal parts to look decent with any reflection, but this is an excellent picture. Maybe when you grow up you have a future in photography! :rotfl:

Thanks Mark! Obi Wan....Yeah I didn't think about the reflection off the chrome scoop. I need to cover the front of the booth with white paper and cut a hole in it to shoot through. Just haven't done it yet.
Thanks Mal! I got lucky. It was the only piece of wood I had with 1.5 inch diameter.Cherry sure makes a nice handle ... very beautiful turning/finishing Chuck !!!
Thanks! It does do that :biggrin:The important thing, IMHO, it that it scoops big scoops of ice cream.
That is a nice scooper! Looks almost too good to scoop ice cream with. Lol I'm a ice cream lover and I really need to make one of these. Lol Nice job!

Thank you Bobby! I'm curious to see how long it will take to chip off the CA.

Have you thought about using Wood Turners Finish (WTF) on them? It's food safe and it also gives a great finish. Just a thought.
Glad to see someone's having success with these scoopers. I've about pulled out all my hair trying to get one to "line up" just right. Did I mention, I'm all but bald. So not a lot of hair to pull. Very nice and good job!
I've done a few bottle stoppers and all I've used is WTF on them. Here are a couple examples. The more you apply, the shinier it gets. That is a nice scooper! Looks almost too good to scoop ice cream with. Lol I'm a ice cream lover and I really need to make one of these. Lol Nice job!

No I haven't. I had CA on hand, and only wanted to make one scoop. But I'll take your word on WTF. Thanks!
