Just back home and all things are a go to get back into the shop for some Bash projects. All my shows are done and I am free to start the machines in the shop again. Hope to enter a few contests and and come up with some interesting projects. Will also start doing some pens I wanted to complete and want to take on a pen designed that has been done by many here but I never tried. Want to see what makes it tick so that I can experiment with it. So i will be busy and having fun at the same time.

I hope others are getting their ideas and projects ready for the upcoming Bash Event. Never too early to start on these things because time has a way of slipping away. Start looking for the ads and we have been seeing some moderators of contests trying their test patterns to get things right for the opening of what will be a fun time. Get to challenge yourself and compare yourself to your peers here. Take those next steps and make some special project. Hope to see you all there. :):):)

Maybe we can have each contest leader jump in here and give a little note and pep talk about their event. There is and always be that playful banter so lets see what you got.

JT, the problem now is that by telling everyone you will be entering a few contests, you have just scared all the prospective contestants away.

I mean......I have already started selling my tools and my knees are still shaking!!!

Should be just the opposite. They should figure there is no competition there. They are probably saying I'll show that guy a thing or two.:biggrin:

Is there a list of categories yet? I have not been getting on the forum everyday but am curious. Maybe I will enter and fight for second or third place with Steven. :)

Hey folks, i'm Running the "Pen Stand / Pen Box" contest.

The reason for combining the two categories is an attempt
To get more entries.

Participants may enter this contest submitting either one or both categories
There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners combining both categories

And YES the same person has the ability to win two places.

Now for a little taunting,

By entering this contest, you have the ability to enhance the
beauty of pens in other contest.

Remember, the only thing that makes a good pen look great is a Pen Stand and/or a Pen Box

Ron all the details have not been worked out yet including prizes and all but the preliminary report by Mike was this thread and will probably be close to it when all said and done. There will be official announcements as we get closer. I just thought I would throw it out there in case some people have no idea what we are talking about and get things heading in that direction. After all it is the biggest event that happens on this site during the year so why not jump in and play some.:):):)

JT do you have the skills to make a perfectly contoured pen with exquisite fit and finish or can you only make some gimmicky segmented or casted pen? Perhaps you only have the ability to make some elaborate penbox or stand. I wonder if you are capable of matching the sublime beauty of a perfectly turned slimline.

Why a Pretty Resin Pen Contest?

Because the Pretty Resin Pen Contest is a contest that YOU, any of you, can win!

I see it as an opportunity to take a new contest a create the best contest, one that is fair to all turners new and old, established and just getting started, those with just a few dollars to enter and those who have no limits, those who buy their blanks and those who cast their own.

You can buy beautiful blanks from some of our members or online. You can dig through the blanks at you local pen supply store. If you have an online supplier near buy you can tell them what you need and they will often look for that special blank. Some places you can even dig through their seconds and something unique.

You can also make your own. You can cast a blank with or without pressure, add any colors Liquid or dry pigments, add pearlescent or halo graphic particles, micas or even diamond dust.

You can swirl or cross pour or layer or twist. YOU can show what YOU can do and add it to a kit.

Plus, we are limiting how high end of a kit you can use so we don't have to worry about a GT Knurl or Le Roi simply being topped by a Great Palace Vine or even a Rodium Emperor that would look great with your blank, too.

What makes the Pretty Resin Pen Contest the best, the one YOU want to enter? It simple...

YOU CAN WIN IT!!!
