I recently did the Aluminium version and found it a touch top heavy when posted. How is the SS version to write with?

Same, top heavy if you attach the cap to the tail when writing. If you leave it off it writes great, nice balance. Makes a nice pen for signing documents, quick turn off of the cap, sign then screw the cap back on.
