This was something new I wanted to try as a proof of concept, since I have an order for something similar. A customer wanted a pen with a square profile, but wanted it to be softer than being purely square. My solution was to have the faces rounded slightly, so the profile resembled a "cushion" shape, more or less.
This was made with some random acrylic I had gotten from Beartooth a while back, and has a bronze clip that I made.

I'm happy with how it turned out (for the first one), and found out some areas in which I can improve, such as the diameter of material I start out with before shaping. I went a little thick with this pen, and it resulted in a larger shoulder than I wanted where the grip transitions to the barrel.

I like the concept, but I believe a better choice would be a pentagon, a hexagon or a septagon shape. As a game callmaker even with rounding the corners and the "flats", the square shape has never been as comfortable to hold as a pentagon or hexagon shape. But without an accurate jig, and an indexing system, the concept is hard to execute.

I am a big fan of all your pens but I think you have absolutely nailed the threads. Well done as usual.:good::good::good:

It feels a lot more like a round pen to me than the pentagonal one did
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
