Great minds must think alike! Although I know a lot of folks use Texas Ebony, it's not one of those that you see in the SOYP often. Might as well go back-to-back! My piece had a bit of sapwood, which makes for nice contrast. I find that I get the best depth and chattoyance when I use a CA finish, the matte finish is nice too but my favorite is high gloss with TE. Anyway, here it is:

Looks great Sam. I like the sap wood contrast. I have one piece with sap wood but haven't decided what to make with it yet.

Thanks Dale. The contrast with the sapwood is among the best compared to other woods I've used. I haven't had any trouble with contamination or staining and the sapwood is surprisingly hard, although it is noticeably softer than the Heartwood. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
