Hey!
I have been watching the forum for a while, just joined. I just started turning pens, mainly because I could not find pens that I liked, so I turned my own.

I got into a Thuya wood kick and have bought a lot of it to make 20-30 pens so far.

Getting better, hoping to learn more from this forum.

Thanks! I segment to use smaller pieces of wood, maximizes the purchase. One day I will do it on purpose for design.

I guess being new, I don't fully understand the question. I cut the sections as straight as possible ( an issue with my band saw, so I use a miter saw ) then I glue them together and compress them at the same time. I drill it after segmenting.

Not sure if that is what you are asking, again I am new to this. I do extensive woodworking, furniture building, home remodeling ( my home ) so I have the tools.

That is actually why I bought the lathe, just never used it for the original purpose.
