Once again PSI have played an absolute blinder - in the same download as their email confirming my order and it's shipping details they send me a discount voucher for if I place another order. It has to be over $100, but I've only got a week to spend it! As a hobby turner, and a pensioner at that, it will be several months before my next order anywhere, so this is really, really frustrating! I will know better with my next order, whenever that may be though - only order part of what I want so that I can get a discount on the rest!

I do not get it. Why is it frustrating. Look at it this way. You know you use whatever it is you use. Why not stock up so that you have these items when you need them. Please Do not use the money thing because that is just an excuse if you are doing this as a hobby. You are saving money on their sale.

If you can not swing it then wait for their next sale. Not like they won't have another:smile:

This is fairly common marketing practice. When you order from any large online store, you will get offers for related items from the same store. The offers are actually triggered by your order, so if you don't order anything you won't get any offers.

That doesn't make it any less frustrating, and from a social engineering standpoint it is probably counterproductive.

I don't know what coupon code you are referring to but in my expirience the expo date means nothing. I have used coupon codes that expired months before and they still work. Example - dvd10 was on my how to dvd with an expo on a week or two. 3 months later when I made a big purchase I used it. It worked...

Yea, even when I go to somewhere like Michaels and buy from the brick and mortar, I usually have them send me the receipt email (my small part of saving trees) (then I can have more to chip up on a lathe :)) then I usually get a email also for a good discount. Very good marketing strategy actually, I bet it pays off a lot, I often think maybe I should take advantage, but being on a small income I usually only buy what I need.

Unless a client wants a pen that I can't get anywhere else, I wait for the 15% off sale. At least once a year, I get the "We Haven't Seen You in a While" discount of 20% off. Maybe they have stopped the practice.
We also have several IAP suppliers that offer the kits at the second quantity discount level from the first kit.

They do that after every order.

I haven't placed an order in months and I just got the 15% off email.

Me, too, however I've been getting my PSI stuff from Woodturninz as of late. I also let them know that the only reason I am doing business with them is because they provided IAP with prizes for the Bash. They are very nice to deal with, and I had a nice conversation with Fritz when I used my coupon from the Bash.

Regards,
Michael

Still do it Tony. By now they should be giving me 80% off:smile:

Rule of thumb for the DMA used to be make contact with the prospect every 6 weeks.
That was when marketing was primarily postal. With digital contact, more frequently is easy.

Anyone have any inside information on when PSI will have the antique peppermill kits back in stock? They are a major source of revenue for the Center for the Blind because they sell so well and we haven't been able to get them for months.
