This may seem like an odd request - especially on a turning-related forum, but I purchased some new hallowing tools at a local woodturners group meeting and need to purchase some handles. I know, I know, I could turn my own, which I have thought about. But, I have limited time at the lathe and would rather spend my time turning pens, bowls, etc, than tool handles.

I've found a source, linked below that sells a 14" handle for $8.95. (Packard Woodworks: The Woodturner's Source: Beech Tool Handles). Does anyone know of a source that might be cheaper or similar in price, but a supporter of IAP?

Thanks!
Kevin

That is not a bad price for those at all. You are not going to find much cheaper. I usually get mine from Crafts Supply USA

considering buying a dowel and a copper plumbing fitting to make your own will cost you about $4 in materials, this sounds pretty cheap to me.

I made my own, but I had some walnut tool-size blanks from a friend. Initially, I bought ferrules from CSUSA, but later got some copper couplers in the plumbing section.

If you make your own, you can have the length and style that you want including if you wanted to use the Easy Wood tool handle style ( I didn't use that one though). You could use one of those wooden closet dowel rods to provide for varying thicknesses on the handle. I used wipe on poly for a finish.

It really doesn't take long to make a handle and it's relaxing.
