Not this year. Will be in a booth at a local market on Saturday. Should be a good time, though. Eat a plate of snake for me.
 
I just saw the thread. I went on a quick day trip with a friend to pick up a few skins with a friend. I been in Texas all my life and always heard about the roundup but I've never gone until last year. I wanted to go just to see what all the talk was about and to say the least it's a different world.
 
Estimated 40,000 people attended the round-up this year. While I do not condone the wholesale slaughter of the snakes, this town relies on the fair for a signifiicant portion of their annual budget.
Stepping off my soapbox now.
If anyone wants to setup a pen sale here next year, please let me know!
 
The skins are cheaper at the Waurika, OK hunt. Sweetwater prices OUCH!

There was a guy there selling pens. He said where he was from but I don't remember. That happens to me a lot lately. Last year I took two pens one with a rattlesnake inlay and the other was all snakeskin. Both were slimlines and I traded them for 5 tanned skins. I thought I got a great deal. I was planning on doing the same this year but I let time slip buy and I didn't get it done. Maybe next year. As far as the roundup itself I have mixed emotions. I don't think the population of snakes are being threatened but there might be a few things I may not agree with. I do think there is a lot of good that comes from the roundups as well. Maybe we can have an IAP Meeting there!
 
Don, are you planning on going to Waurika? Anybody?
I'm down to my last 1/2 skin and in need of a few more for my fall shows.
