Looking for advice on headstock vibration which has recently started in my Jet 1221vs lathe. Lathe is approx. 1 1/2 yrs old and has seen steady use but nothing excessive. Centers line up perfectly. When I use some TBC bushings with only a pen tube between them I do see some wobble at tail stock side until approx 2400 rpm is reached.
Think I may need to replace bearings but would like feedback on other items to check before I do this.
Also looking for recommendations on upgrade replacement bearings rather than ordering from manufacturer if that is my issue.
Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Hello Bill

Here is a past thread that may have some interest to you. http://www.penturners.org/forum/f30/wood-magazine-claims-jet-1221-vibrates-129757/

Here is a past thread on bearings and there is an article in the library that explains changing them.

Here is another thread

This should get you started in the right direction. I would also check that the pulley is tight. The setscrews have a tendency to come loose and the pulley shifts and the belt rubs and is off center. If the lathe is still under warrenty I would go that route first though. Good luck and welcome to the site.

Thanks John I will definitely go thru all information you have provided.

Really appreciate your response.
