Recently I had purchased some pen blanks from IAP's classified adds for the sum of $153.00. It is way past the time these blanks should have arrived but I wasn't worried because I used PAYPAL for the transaction. Imagine my surprise today when PAYPAL informed me that I couldn't file a dispute because I had marked the transaction as a personal payment instead of a purchase of goods or services. So long story short, If you are using PAYPAL, make sure you select the option of payment for goods or services.

Have you attempted to contact the 'vendor'?

Your description reads as though you waited silently, then determined your patience was expired and contacted PayPal ... posting a question on the thread where the goods were advertised can get the seller's attention.

If you have contacted the "vendor" and he hasn't done anything about it, PM Jeff the info. This is behavior not tolerated. If this is from a Group Buy, please let me know who the "vendor" is via PM.

You should never use personal payments if the receiver is not friends or family. If a seller ASKs you to use it, that should be a red flag as the paypal fee is a cost of doing business.

And I agree with the others, please PM Jeff. Hopefully he can help figure out whats going on and get you a better resolution. If he can't at least he is aware of the problem so that no one else looses money.

Im sorry you had a bad experience butt before we hang the "vendor" , did you request or turn down insurance? Does He have a tracking number for shipment? A private seller and not one of IAPs many business vendors might request F&F payment to avoid the fees, that would not seem unusual, as you found out you have no recourse through Paypal.
The person that sold the pen blanks may not have anything he can replace it with. IF he mailed the package does he have the burden of delivery if its not insured.
I can understand your not wanting to lose $153 and I am not excusing a sellers actions if he misrepresented or didnt ship the package. I would contact Jeff with the particulars just in case the seller in question becomes a problem for IAP.

Has that person still been active on this site? Go look at their profile and see if they have done any recent posts.

I had been there with someone here about a year ago with no responses to my emails. A month later, his son contacted me saying that he had a stroke and I did get what I ordered after a little more time.

Things do happen, so definitely contact Jeff and let him look into it.

Most transactions here should not use Friends and Family but some "deals and wants" listings it is legitimate to use it but never in a purchase from classifieds.
