I did a search and did not find anything pertaining to this question.
I have had a few request for custom gear shift knobs. Do gear shifts have the same thread size or will I need the thread each one differently? I see where PSI does a gear shift bottle stopper kits, but looking for the gearshift pattern insert any ideas?
Thanks

I would think different, especially depending on the age of the car. A car made in the U.S. in the 60's is going to have standard threads (no idea of what they have now) and a let's say a Japanese made car will have metric, I would assume.

They are different between makes and some modern vehicles don't use threads at all. Some are pressed on (friction fit), some use clips, and there are others.
You can get make specific inserts for older vehicles.

Do you know where I can find the inserts?
Ace Hardware is where I got a threaded brass insert for the one gear shift I've made.
