Got my copy of Pen World April edition today. Not sure how many people here get this magazine. But there are some usually good reads in there.
This issue had touched on a subject about nibs and flex nibs. I know there was a few discussions in some threads recently here. Might be of interest to those who had questions.
Also there was a article about Watch Part pens and how they have become a pen to "WATCH" for. How people gravitate to these pens because of their relations to the joy of owning watches and their cool factors. They gave examples of people who make them.
What was also interesting right next to that article was another article titled Copyright Controversy. Within the confines of the article they must have interviewed Barry Gross again and he claims his copyright infringements are being violated. Now this topic has come up here before and if you do a search of the forum you will find these topics. He claims he invented the watch part pen, cigar label pen, beer cap pen and fly fishing pens. He went on to get copyrights on these pens because he also claims he invented the circuit board pen but when trying to take on a partner they stole the idea and ran with it and he had no recourse. But within the article a an intellectual-property professor at LSU Law Center went on to explain it is not as simple as he makes it out to be. She goes on to explain further and says it would be a tough case in court. other things were mentioned also about the company Caran d'Ache and their watch part pen along with others being out there well before 1990's
My point here is not to dispute any of this but I found it interesting and both odd that they do a feature on the watch part pen and then right next to it they have an article about copyrights. Not sure if that is good publicity or just makes for good reading.
If you get the magazine give it a look at.
