Wasn't it just a little while ago we celebrated the 20,000 member joining??? I see we are now down to 19,726. Was there a weeding that went on?? Good thing we did not give him or her a T shirt or plaque for being 20,000. We would have to take it back.

I really need to get back in the shop.

Might be a case of the troubles. Any of these missing folk from Haven, Maine.

John, I asked the same question some time ago. The answer is in the thread...

Thanks Skip. I am thinking that was and is the case here too. That member number is really a bogus number. I was just passing some time.

I had to smile at some of the comments back then and remembering some of the characters that were active back then. Seems like different times as opposed to today's forum.

Ha ha, I smiled a bit too re-reading it....

Yep, different place then. :frown: Only four years, but seems ages ago...

The member count shown on the front page includes the group "users awaiting email confirmation". Spambot registrations with bogus emails sit in that group until I empty them. Several hundred had accumulated there and I have started emptying them when I have time. It's not a one-button thing because I have to separate out the legitimate users who changed their email, and action which throws them back into the group needing to confirm their email. The more correct number showing just registered users is on the Member List Page.

Thanks for the explanation. Would that number be 19,397???

Actually all numbers are just 'artificial measuring systems'. For example my birthdate using dd-mm-yyyy format is:

Hebrew Calendar: 24 Thisri 5710
Muslim Calendar: 24-Dhu I-Hijja 1368
Roman Numbers: XVII-X-MCMIL
Microsoft Excel: 18188
Julian Calendar:4-Oct-1949
Modified Julian Day: 33206
Gregorian Calendar (the one we are all used to): 17-Oct-1949

I just had to throw this one out since I use all of these dates to confuse the radiation therapists who work with me daily. This is called "doing my part to make the best out of a bad situation". (Yes: I did discover that I had lung cancer just before Christmas and I do appreciate thoughts and prayers).

Dan

PS: I have enough sick leave built up to take me to the end of the semester and then I am retiring. It will be a year earlier than planned but it will give me a lot to "shop time" while we fight this cancer.

Hello Dan

I am sorry to read of this news. I wish you all the best and prayers your way. I am sure you will fight and win. Good people come out on top.

Now as far as your birthday goes I guess Happy Birthday:cake: because not sure when it is or was or will be. Didn't want to miss it. Look at all the presents you can get. Take care.
