Can anyone tell me the thread size of the double edge razor heads that the Golden Nib sells? I just got three of them and don't know the thread size. I sent The Golden Nib an email yesterday and know they will answer but I don't expect to disturb their week end with my little problems. Soooo, if anyone has that information I would appreciate it.
Thanks.

I have not made a DE razor, so I can't tell you for sure, but the Mach III from Berea and Fusion from CSUSA are 1/4-20. The threads on the Fusion were kind of rough so I grabbed a 1/4-20 nut and used that to smooth them up, so if you have one of those nuts lying around you could try that to see if the threads match, sorry I couldn't help any more.

Thanks Bill, I thought I remembered that info from a previous email from the Nib. I tried a 1/4-20 and the nut seemed tight so I assumed it to be metric but none of the metric nuts worked either. I am sure you are correct so I will run a 1/4-20 die to clean up the threads. I think the chrome plating made the threads a bit oversize. I want to make a steel insert in a closed end handle. I just like the heft of a weightier razor.
Thanks, Les

I misstated the problem. The 1/4-20 slides right over. a 12-24 tries to fit but is a bit too small. It must be metric but does not fit any of my metric dies. Guess I have to wait for the Nib to give me the real scoop but I am sure I was told 1/4-20. We'll see.

Vintage DE razors use 10/32 and the newer ones, as well as the DE from CSUSA use M5. 10/32 will screw in to an M5, but not the other way around, which is why I make my handles with M5 so either head can be used.

Thanks, that is what I needed to know.

I just ran an adjustable 10-32 die on the threads. It works. I will use a 1/4 inch rod in the handle on a closed end handle to give it some heft. Thanks.
