I want to order some abranet in 800 grit, but it comes in a 25 yard roll.

9A-593-800, Mirka Abranet 3-2/3 in.x 25yd Mesh Grip Roll 800G, Qty 1

10 yards will last me a long time, anyone want to go in half and split the cost and roll? The shipping is 11.24 and the roll is 60$. If you want anything else I can add it on for the cost of the item and difference in shipping price. I added a 400 grit 10 yard roll to the order just to see the change in shipping and it only added 50 cents.

I really like Abranet, I have it in 120 240 and 400 grit 10 yard rolls I bought at SWAT and love using it on turning. I have been using small sheets of, way overpriced, 600 on flat work between finish coats. It doesn't load up and it doesn't warm up, if it loads at all you flick it and poof sanding dust in in the air instead of on the paper. I even used some on drywall with a hose hooked up and had very little mess to clean up afterwards. THE STUFF IS GREAT! Sales pitch is over, who is in?

Great stuff, I just don't use the finer grains on anything....in fact, I rarely go beyond 400grit before friction polishing with the Capt. Eddie stuff.

I do find it odd that those higher grit stuff only comes in longer rolls?

Sorry, I got picked up for a last minute class in New Jersey, and spent two weeks there. I'm back and have it just need to cut it. I can bring it buy or you can come check out my "shop." Want to get it this evening or tomorrow afternoon? I'm over behind the new neighborhood market. Bob, if you need it for something I can bring it by, unless you want to wait til we meet for some reason.

Didn't know you had left? Hope it wasn't too cold up there for ya??

Just wanted to make sure I didn't go around owing someone some cha-ching.

hey bob..
did you start doing pc clay canes and blanks?
No not yet. I might try it later this year. I have the pasta roller & a few of the tools, but I haven't tried to do anything yet. My plate is pretty full right now, so it's on the back burner for now.

DEMO - DEMO - DEMO

I can say that because I too tried some cane making....nothing fancy though. Hoping to see some of the polymer tubes I handed out at the last meeting come back for show-n-tell stuff?

If I don't sell it first I will bring it. It came out really nice. Much better than the one I tried to make.

I turned the one you gave me. It has some pin holes, so I'll need to do a CA finish to fill those. And you know how much I like doing CA. But I should have it for the next meeting.

Just wanted to throw out a big "THANKS JAMES!!!"
Stopped by yesterday to get my Abranet and to peek at the shop of a wood worker:wink:

James is a fountain of information about why's and how's of the sharpening world. My tools were so bad off, it was a wonder I could even use them all this time! But I was making curlies today!!!!

Scott, I'm glad I could help. I think I like teaching/helping others more than doing the craft myself.

Moving & out of the loop...

Well, we finally got moved last fall & have gotten settled in pretty much....I thought I would have a new shop started by now but with everyting going on it is pretty much on the back burner! :crying: When/where is the next quarterly meeing? I hope to make a trip up "north" t see ya'll guys! I have been trying to use up the blanks I picked up when we went to the state park...
While cleaning & throwing accumlated "stuff" away I found lots of pen kits that I had ordered & stuck back & forgot about...so I have been trying to make time to go to the "old" place & whittle out a few pens! We have about six to eight that have expressed interest in "turning" & hav been meeting down here the 1st Thursday of each month...let me know about the next meeting!
