Is this Oak?

I received this cool double dyed & stabilized blank from Jonathon Brooks. It looks like oak, but can anyone confirm this or identify the wood type?

I had already checked with Jonathon before posting the question. It was in a mystery box. Before posting my question, I thought about the "Search" function and considered it to be of minimal benefit in this situation.

There's no way to tell from the photos. This truly is one of "send it to me" moments. :biggrin:

You need to put it in the hands of someone with a lot of experience determining wood types.
Do you or Jonathon have a photo of the wood's endgrain and face grain pre-treatment?

It's nice, has some interesting 'features'....

Jonathon, you said you have a box of this wood that still needs stabilizing? Or a box of mixed stuff that needs to be done?

Yeah I thought about that, but it's all mixed stuff. Some is definitely oak, some is maple, hackberry, pecan, hickory, etc.
