There's no way to tell from the photos. This truly is one of "send it to me" moments. :biggrin:

You need to put it in the hands of someone with a lot of experience determining wood types.
Do you or Jonathon have a photo of the wood's endgrain and face grain pre-treatment?
 
Not seeing the 'rays' that Oak has....
It's nice, has some interesting 'features'....

Jonathon, you said you have a box of this wood that still needs stabilizing? Or a box of mixed stuff that needs to be done?

Yeah I thought about that, but it's all mixed stuff. Some is definitely oak, some is maple, hackberry, pecan, hickory, etc.
 
Oh yeah! Saw that in your post...."I asked Jonathan what wood this was and he didn't know" Thanks for pointing that missing part out and adding to my stupidity...and Merry Christmas Karl!
