Despite being on the national "Do Not Call" registry, we are still getting a bunch of nuisance calls. 95% of the time they just hang up when the answering machine answers. Those few times we have answered the phone, no one answers. I'm thinking of investing in a "Call Blocker" to stop them altogether. Digitone, CPR, and True Call are three brands. Do any of you guys/gals have any recommendations? Thanks.

Try having some 'fun with them' instead.
Answer the phone and let them talk to the dog or even a toddler(the smaller the better). Thank them for wasting their time and hang up.

Besides the national registry in indiana there is a state registry, you might look into that. Also you have so re-register every 5 years or so. We started getting a lot of calls again I re-registered and in about a month they stopped.

Some models of Panasonic cordless phones have built in call blocking features, so you might check out that option.

I'm with Scott. I'll entertain myself by playing with them. I also let my daughters harrass them. They kind of look forward to it. Before hanging up, I tell them to never call again.

here's the #1-888-382-1222 National do not call list I got so bad around here May 15th that I called the phone company to complain about them from noon on , about every 15 or 20 min, thr phone rang. It was differant things , but the same # I contacted the DNCL and I had 2 calls after that at 5;30 and 5;40 pm and they all stopped.

Sorry, but the idea that you must register is an urban myth and it's one of the arguments that the telemarketers use to justify calling.

Once you register for the do not call list, you are registered in perpetuity.

It takes a few months for the DNC registry to kick in. If you have ever had contact with "that" company or an entity...be it a county fair, trade show...blah blah blah...you're hooked and they are exempt.

If you have Cox for your phone, do the following to block the last call recieved.

Press *60. You will get a recording telling you if your call blocking is on or off. If it is off, follow the instructions to turn it on.

Then press #01#

They will block the last number that called you, and read that number back to you.

You can block 30 numbers.

From time to time I go in and delete the oldest numbers, since the telemarketers tend to change them to defeat call blockers.

We've done the entertaining bit. It's now old and boring. These calls are now just a nuisance. Thanks, Sharon, but don't have Cox.

I got COX. Thanks Sharon never knew about that. I work nights and disturbs me to have to get up and answer the phone. I think it is one of the kids calling. If watching TV, got caller ID on the TV so I let the machine answer it then.

I have a total of 90 calls I can block. I have COX which lets me block 30, and I have two Panasonic cordless phones EACH WITH IT'S OWN base station. (They are not two phones on the same base station. I had one and brought one home one from my Dad's after he died last year.) Each of those can block 30 calls. Every so often, I dump the oldest numbers since the telemarketers change their numbers to defeat call blockers.

I originally bought my dad and I each one of the Panasonics because they have headset jacks. Only later did I discover it could block calls!

I just answer and say someone is at the front door, put the phone down and see how long they last. Put your phone to answer on 1 ring and just say hello, or yes they are here and yell for whoever they are calling for and put the phone down. Now all this works best if you put the phone on speakers. There is a lot of different lines to use, it just boils down to how bad you can #%$@ them off. I put them on call block and when I reach my 30 limit I erase and start over. Remember waste their time. I have been doing this for about 12 years now and most times it better action than TV. Most of the calls I get now days won't say anything, they just let it run through the answer machine
