It's a click. It's twisted. It's Aluminum (6061). It's skinny. 0.28" min diameter. Max diameter is 0.41" at the clicker. It's long legged at 5-7/8".

Schmidt skm88 click mechanism. Monteverde cross style refill. Spring from my parts box.

I won't even try to imagine how it got to where it is now.
It would take too much of my brain power.
Suffice to say, I love it, It looks Incredible, and Unique.
Definately Worthy of the Front Page.

Jim asked if I used the pen wizard to make this pen. I didn't and I don't think a pen wizard would be up to the challenge without a whole lot of pricey modifications. While those mods could result in an interesting machine, the money could be better put towards other even more interesting machines.

But not a Hebo. I'm not sure how many thousands of wizard modifications it would take to pay for a Hebo. Making a pen like this might be easy (not to mention super interesting) if I did it with a Hebo.

I bought some 303 stainless last year to use for a project, but never got around to it because I've pursued mostly micro rotary carving since then. Most of the tools I use have cutting tips in the 0.003" to 0.031" range (0.08mm to 0.8mm). I'm afraid that with a shallow depth of cut the stainless will work harden to the point where the tool won't survive anything past the first cut.

I can't cut deep without shearing the tool unless I drop to a very slow feed rate. This would change my typical design from a couple hours of machining to a couple of days. If the tool would last that long, which it wouldn't (I don't have a coolant system (or the patience to stand there for extended periods hand spraying the cutter)).

Some day I'll find the right project for the stainless.
