OK, so at Christmas I had a few (just a few) woodturning desires...

Been admiring some "George Wood" as my Niece called it! (from Robuticion).

My order was pretty simple:

I make mini bird-houses for Christmas gifts for family and they like wood with inclusions and holes...OK. So, "Hey George... got any wood with holes in it!!!"

"And fill the rest of the boxes with anything you think looks cool for pen blanks!"

I'm not picky and a very trusting sole!...

I HIT THE "GEORGE" JACKPOT!!.

Will be slowly posting finished pictures the next 11 months...

Oh...! they look pretty...!:wink::biggrin:

Hold on...! what happened to the 2 pieces that were inside the zip bags...??? the ones I had sprayed with Baygon and sealed them in the zip bags, just in case was some creature hiding inside. The bags had written the reason they were exported like that, did you seen them...??? They were on the box #2, did you received 1 or 2 boxes each @ 10kg weight...???

It doesn't look that is all stuff in there...!

I have been concerned, very concerned indeed about sending pieces like that (not the pen blanks), Customs can be pretty restrict with wood, and anything that has signs of creatures, big flaws (holes) and signs of bark, can become a problems as my good friend Gofer in Canada can testify so, I have spend some time preparing these UN-flawless pieces as requested but, I can never be sure, if they will reach their destiny...!

So, confirm the number of boxes you received, please...!

Cheers

Relax George - EVERYTHING CAME JUST FINE!!!.

I didn't take pictures of everything. And I have the "bags of bug wood" which passed customs just fine... my 2 cats are sniffing them though

And I did not take pictures of all the pretty "extras" you sent

As I said - You ARE THE MAN!!! I'll tease you for the next 11 months with slow pictures (unless I work through everything and need to order more)!

Maybe I should rename the order from "An Aussie Grab Bag" to "George Cleaned Out His Shed!!!"

Oh..., thanks goodness for that, I got concerned when I only saw what you showed...!

As for the "George Cleaned Out His Shed!!!", in your dreams mate, in your dreams, a 24' container may make a big dent, not a couple of small boxes...!:biggrin:

As for those 2 pieces in the bags, check if you see any dead creatures on them, it shouldn't have any and what I done was more to satisfy Customs for the prevention methods I used to make sure no live creatures would survive the trip so, now that you got them, keep your cats out of them, what they are smelling is the poison (surface spray) I used, before the bags were sealed so, open them outside, and make sure you discard those bags properly, wash you hands after handling them...!

You can simply put the outside in the sun for a few days until all the spray evaporates but it will leave some sediment at the wood surface so, the best and quickest way to clean that stuff of the timber is to use hot water and a brush, (under the hot water tap will do), scrub the wood a little on the running water and then put it to dry, don't use it for 3 or 4 weeks and you will be a s good as gold...!

Go on, tease me as much as you can, I'm looking forwards to that, regardless of how long it will last for, there is a lot more, from where that lot came from...!:biggrin:

The important thing is, if you are pleased with my selections, nothinh else matters...!

Cheers

Thanks for the "cleaning instructions;" I will follow as noted! (I look stupid...but that's misleading...)

Selection... I couldn't be happier - a lot for me to play with! Yes, I only took pics of about 1/2. The packaging you did was excellent! And the delivery went great!

And thanks for the extras!

PS... Even with the heavy postage fees - the total price is GOOD!

The clean instructions, were only a reminder of how I would do it...!

Well mate, if you are happy, I'm happy, that simple...!:biggrin:

Now, lets the fun, begin...!

Cheers
