I could live without all that junk mail, but I'm not going to opt out.

I figure all that junk mail is helping keep the cost of postage lower than it would be without all the income the post office gets from delivering it.

I recycle all my junk mail so I figure I'm helping at least a couple people stay employed that are processing it (and everybody elses).

I barely trust my banks website. I'm not going to trust some other website enough to enter all the information that they want from me to opt out.

Now, if there was a website where you could sign up to have all the robo- callers and telemarketers vaporized in a blazing inferno, I would be signing up for sure.

Interesting.

I would seriously suggest that procedure not be followed. They ask for your social security number for starters. Then you have to mail in forms to them after the process is finished. All this to put you on a list.

Social security number. Seriously?

You can submit the request without providing your SSN...I did and it went through just fine.

The site on the separate link asks for name address and SS# not going to happen. I will have to do each one as they come. My wife like to pack them up and send to our Congressperson or one of the Senators.

I fill out the application using a bunch of fictitious names(sambal oleck, oolong tee etc.), addresses (usually their own return addresses), income, etc.fill it with old newspaper clippings , sunday newspaper comic clips, non winning scratch off lottery tickets, etc etc etc

i just open it up take there prepaid envelope and put all the junk in that envelope and put it back mail box and send it back to them don't even take in the house.

That's what I do.
If it's a particularly annoying company such as American Express or the criminals who search public records and try to sell people a copy of their property purchase for some lame amount, I include a bunch of other junk with it.

Like others have mentioned I send it back to the sender in their prepaid envelope, I even cut up the envelope it came in. They have to pay for the return postage so when they catch on their mail stops. I don't get offers anymore.
