Have any of you or your family bought thing at Target since Thanksgiving using a debit or credit card? If so watch your watch your accounts and maybe notify your Bank/Credit Union. My wife used hers, but so far no problems. This morning I transfered most of our Checking account balance into our savings account and will be calling our Credit Union this morning to see what they want to do. I imagine they will block/cancel her card and issue a temp card until a new one can be sent. It is a hassle but that is all we can do. Back in July our local large family owned Grocery Chain was hit and all of sudden I had $2500 in purchases from Sears and Walmart. My Credit union caught it and called and asked me about my purchases, cancelled both our cards and refund the money. The company denied there was a problem but then some of their employees got hit even employees at my Credit Union were hit. That time it was Debit Card information stored on their computer. Being a small Credit Union I think helped identify the problem and allowed them to act quickly. I have had one attempt a few years ago but I caught it and stopped it. Now I monitor our Checking/Debit account closely much to my wife's dismay and question purchases that seem strange especially if they are really small amounts like $2.56 on line as that can be a test purchase. This is kind of a pain in the butt as we are traveling Christmas morning to Boise Idaho for Christmas the our oldest Son and his family. Hope no one gets hit when you do it is one stressfull time. Maybe it will cause these companies to be more careful and up their security and stop the mining of our information. We have really limited which cards we use and where and change password on the Debit card monthly and only use one small balance CC online to limit our vulnerability.
