What size band saw blade do you guys use when cutting PR? Like when you cut blanks from a larger size mold.

Teeth number and thickness plus width of blade?

I'm using a 3/4" width x 6 tpi and sides are coming out pretty rugged. I just recived some blanks and the saw teeth marks are barely visible and almost smooth to the touch. I would like to replicate this with my 14" saw.

Thanks Russ

I'm set up for 1/2" 3/4TPI.....just have to watch the feed to keep from chipping the blanks. That is a lot easier then changing out the band.

Scott (why does grilled cheese taste so good) B

I use a 1/2 x 6tpi and get a descent finish. I saw a post here recently where someone said use a metal blade. I think that could give a nice finish but gotta go slow due to the finer teeth, I would think.

Why are you cutting PR blanks? What size did you cast it to in what mold? Just turn it down. Any blade works, although you may want to stay away from a 3-4 tooth. Your blade should be great!

Sounds like he is casting larger blocks. I have a 5.25"sq mold I use and when I am done cleaning them up I get five 7/8" blanks or six 3/4" depending on what I am after.

Yes, the larger molds.

I found a 3/4 x 10 tooth. Don't remember the thickness, but will give it a try after Holidays.
thanks Russ
