All right today I do not have a whole lot going on at work. I sent out an email to the department about the free/discounted stuff for Veterans day. Someone (a retired Cheif) asked to be taken off the distro list. What in the world? There have been a couple cases where people sent things they should not, how ever how can anyone take offense to this.

By the way I am bored out of my mind.

Don't take offense, but I reckon you should give the guy a break. Could have caught him at a bad moment with something else on his mind or perhaps saw your offer differently than you intended.

Skip the guy is one of those "better than anyone else" he was sending out political stuff and he got slapped for it. Basically the guy is something that is against the rules on here calling him, if you want to know send me a PM. LOL

This guy is over in one of the trailers far away from me. So no real sweat, just thought it was funny. Oh and he even wore his retired chief jacket in today....

every retired Chief I've ever met is a grumpy, old b-stard.

the problem with email lists is usually not the first message - it's all the idiots that respond using "reply all" and pretty soon you're hearing more than you ever wanted to know about Phil's Aunt Edna's cat's hemorrhoid removal and... etc.

Got a free haircut and a free carwash yesterday. Don't forget that Home Depot and Lowes always give a 10 percent discount to veterans. I always carry a copy of my DD 214 in my purse.

darn - I really could use a car wash.

in TX - we can take our DD214 to the driver's license office, and they add "veteran" to the driver's license...no need to carry the 214!

or I just carry my VA card.

or I just carry my VA card.

When my husband and I went to register for VA a number of years ago, we were refused because we had too much money in our IRA. We didn't "qualify" for VA benefits.

They have changed the rules now, and now we are retired and we need to go get registered. It will be MUCH cheaper to get my husband's insulin through the VA than through our medicare part d ($100 per vial!)

I just went into the website and ran the calculator. They still won't accept us because we have too much in our IRA. So if you are a good doobee and scrimp and save all your life so you will have money to live on when you retire, you lose your veteran's benefits. I'm not going to complain We get by on $4000 a month and have no debt. there are other veterans out there who need it much more than we do.
