Hello Everyone..

A week ago today, three teenagers vandalized my flag holder and the US flag I had in it. One teen stomped on the flag, which really upset me. This was the third time it happened in two years.
This time, I caught the kid on camera. Here is the raw video:

On Monday I called a local Dallas TV station, WFAA. They interviewed me that afternoon and aired the story on their 5 and 10 o'clock news.

By Wednesday other stations interviewed me and the story has gone crazy on the Internet. One site hast 5.2K of Facebook shares. Two live broadcast from my front yard.

Fox News wanted me to appear on Fox and Friends.

Here is a sample of where this has gone. Some are duplicates.

I can't believe what one call did!

Amazing how some things take off like that. Hope they catch the perps. I think that, besides replacing damaged property and learning the rules for displaying and handling our flag, they should have to serve (volun-told) a stint in a PT facility that caters to our soldiers who have been become amputees.

I second that thought! Many of today's kids have too much money, too much freedom, too much attitude and not enough respect for those things that make life and family precious.

I also agree, but IMHO its parents who do not teach their kids respect, whether for our flag or anything else. Probably because their parents didn't teach them.

In addition to too much money, lax rules, attitude and lack of respect, I'd also like to add boredom and slothfulness. I guarantee that if those hooligans spent their waking hours knuckling down and working (either with school work or jobs, or both), they would be wanting to spend the night sleeping rather than roaming around at midnight:30 looking for stuff to mess with.

It'd most likely be the parents who have to restore the flag and holder. Perhaps they should join the hooligans in service at the rehabilitation center as well.

Hope they catch them. More than likely some of them will brag to their friends that they were on the news and their friends will turn them in. Good idea with the camera.

Yep, and also we must remember that they Chose to do the crime.

As a Vet and a current federal employee, I can't comment...except to say "God is watching you" at the folks that desecrated your property and our Country

Nice job with the camera and, thanks for posting this. Not sure I agree with your decision about their possible punishment, or lack of. I take this offense a little more to heart. But, that's just my feeling. And, you're probably a lot smarter about these things than I am  I hope this is the end of it for you. Thanks again.

These are not "kids" at all, and I doubt that, in these days the law will give them punishment enough for their acts, I only wish that I could have a full day with them, they would be learning a few lessons that I guarantee, they would never forget, for the rest of their life's.

There are things that, "modern society" have created and give NO "firm" solutions for such acts, those that have the background and know the true mining of "old times treatment" will know that, nothing replaces that, we know do we...???:biggrin:

Cheers
George

I saw that on Daily Mail! Glad my flagpole is 20 feet high and surrounded by a big climbing rose.

When I was in the WAC our basic training platoon won the privileged of raising and lowering the Ft McClellan garrison flag. Took 40 women to handle the big flag (20' x 38'). I was one of those chosen to help lower and fold the flag. (The winner of each week's review won the right to service the garrison flag the next day. We marched our butts off practicing so we could win the competition.) It was a bit breezy, and it was all we could do to manage to keep it off the ground as it came down.

You are a lot more tolerant than I would have been. Too bad you can't put a few bouncing bettys surrounding the statue. The kids don't need a police record, they need to be put in a room for a few minutes with me.
