:biggrin:My wife bought me this new machine for my birthday and it will arrive Wednesday morning. This machine has everything installed, Renishaw Probe and tool setter, 4th & 5 axis and all kinds of things that will make life a lot easier. I can't wait to use it, I have a couple projects for it but also long term jobs for medical parts.

Your wife must have a good job. :-)

What kind of medical parts do you make?

That is a nice little toy that will provide us with some eye candy in the near future I am sure ... as for me I am playing with a new toy at work, a Haas VF7

Wow, that's about the largest birthday present I have ever seen! You have an awesome wife! Hmm, could I convince someone to get me one for my birthday? I could make some awesome pens...

Let me know how you like it. I've been toying with the idea of getting one. I'm not a fan of the way Haas nickels and dimes you to death on stuff like memory and other stuff like the controller for the rotary axes. What starts as a $40K machine can quickly escalate to $90K or so.

And I thought when Dee said she'd let ME pay for the paint job on the '65 Chevelle that was great, and now I read your wife is giving you a $40-$50 thousand dollar toy.

True on that part Bruce. Haas is a good machine, and easy to run. We have 2 VF3's and an SL-2 lathe at the shop.

Parts for Dental , Surgical devices and other parts that are used in a device that is used for treating people with lung cancer. The are also other parts where I make the parts as per drawings and have no clue what they are for.

I shall let you know when it is up and running then you can come check out the new place.

As far as the price - Yep, it escalates very quickly the base price was $64500.00 and now I am at north of 90K. We shall make it back sooner than later.

NICE, My exwife bought me a unisaw and thickness planer on my birthday, divorced me, and then I got the Woodcraft bill. I paid off the ex, Woodcraft, remarried and still don't have anything as cool as that. Does your wife have a cute sister by chance :)

OMP40-2 compact touch probe

The probe is used for measuring dimensions of a part to make sure it is on spec or/and it is also use to set the tool hight with the tool setter. When you are using a tool with a small diameter .005" or less it will help set zero position without doing it manually and most likely snap the tool/mill/drill.
