In bandsaw what is meant by 9", 10", 14" in referance to bandsaws? Wikipedia did say a woman actually invented a way to weld the blade.

I'll slightly disagree... it's the wheel diameter. The amount of cutting room is slightly smaller, usually 1/2-3/4".

Agree with Dan. The three wheelers measure a little differently though, I think they are what KenV posted.

The throat is the distance from the blade to the vertical frame section of the body of the saw. This distance determines the width of cut that can be completed on the band saw. The throat on a free-standing cabinet band saw typically exceeds the 12 to 14-inch throat of smaller, bench-top models. When you see the term "18-inch Band Saw" advertised, realize that it is the throat measurement to which the manufacturer is referring.

Throat and wheel diam does not always equal.

that is what we call a band saw. This one cuts 31" and uses 15" wheels.

For a bandsaw to cut longer objects you will need some type of deep throat option, hence the 4 wheels.

Some others have more than 4 wheels by design.

If you look in the background you'll see a second one. I think that's the breeding ground (aka warehouse).
