After seeing the nice job Bill Bullock did using the glue up method to make a bowl from a board on his band saw , I decided to go by the picture tutorial he so kindly provided and try one myself except my rings would be cut on my Ringmaster versus his way of cutting them on the band saw.

Well , he had the luxury of a thickness sander while I only had my planer. All I can say is . . . don't try this type of glue up at home . .lol . . if you do not have a thickness sander . I guess I more or less did it because of the challenge of trying something different and just to see if I could .

It is 8.5" diameter and is made of yellow heart and African mahogany . Finish is three coats of semi gloss lacquer on top of shellac sanding sealer.

Hey, that's a great job! I think I will try one!

It will be a piece of cake if you have a thickness sander.
If you are using a planer for levelling the board with two pieces cut on such an angle then all I can say is "rots 'o ruck" .

Looking forward to seeing pictures when you try one.

Someday.......someday, I just might be able to do that kind of work.

Until then, I will just admire yours. Be proud, that is some great work and a beautiful bowl.
