Anyone in Auburn, AL getting some of the historic wood?

Unlikely....I have seen these large tree removal co. in action. We had a very large live Oak history tree a couple miles away. Now this tree had a base that was about 8-10 foot across it was huge. There was Constitution going on near by. I was thinking that tree mite be a problem and then one morning it was there the very next day not even a sign it existed. Not even a branch left it looked like a well groomed beach.

And the fact it was poisoned mite have had officials spooked about using the wood.

Here is what I've been able to find out.

1) . The major trunk parts will be hauled away and disposed of. (I have no idea what "disposed of" means.)

2) The left over wood parts will be made into souvenirs and sold to aid the scholarship fund. (I have no idea what "left over wood parts".)

3) The city is some what closed mouth about the tree remains. I expressed an interest in a branch or two and they seemed to lose interest in talking.

Sop.. if you learn anything more, I would like to know too.
 
It is my understanding that the main trunk will be destroyed because they are afraid of the poision that may still be in it. The rest of it will be used to make thingw that can be sold to raise money for the school.

Typical government.....It's a LOT easer to look the other way or just ignore. Get rid of it fast before the masses find out, then just let it fade and go away :yawn: if you read in to my meaning :cool:

I tried a lot of contacts to get some of that wood. Spoke with the school and the city. There is fear that the posion is still there and they want to control that. They are providing some of the long dormant wood to someone or someones to make souvenirs. So Scuffy's info is right on. The list of wood workers who wanted wood was long and started almost after the poisioning of the trees was annouced. I even went as far as to request the scraps from the wood workers who are being given wood. We all know we can use bits that many just toss. I would make them pens in limited numbers (as time allowed) over the next few years until wood ran out. If Auburn bought the kits, I would donate my time and they could sell.
