My good deed for the day!
Well folks, I have hit two birds with one stone! I've cleaned out a
lot of scrap wood & piles of shavings from my shop, and done a good
deed at the same time!
I piled three garbage bags full of wood and walnut wood shavings from various
projects, took them to my friend's house, and we had a great time
feeding the scraps through his chipper to make the rest of it into
fine shavings. The shavings consist of oak, walnut, and aromatic
cedar, but the MAJORITY of the shavings are walnut from leftover wood,
a few failed projects and such. I had hoped to use them for a dog bed
my sis-in-law was going to make, but I got tired of waiting for her to
get moving. I loaded them in his truck, and we took them to the local
Boy's Ranch "Farm Project."
They take care of all kinds of horses, and they said that the shavings
would make for some perfect bedding, and we even helped them spread it
around their stall areas!
I feel SO much better -- the horses have new walnut bedding, and I have a cleaner
shop! Finally, all that walnut is out of here!
