Does anyone have a simple explanation of how to do this? Teknatool tech support was very fast in responding to my question, and directed me to videos on their site. Unfortunately, my Mac seems not to want to play them. I have the original manual, and downloaded the latest version (which is better). But it's still not at all clear. I was able to change one of the speeds by fumbling around, but don't know how I did it. Frustrating! Reminds me of the quote from Gerald Weinberg: "If builders built buildings like programmers write programs, the first woodpecker to come along would destroy civilization!" Russ

Speed Changing Directions

Here is a PDF of the Nova DVR/XP speed changing directions.

Tom's quick checklist (see top of page 2 of pdf)
1. With lathe running, press the preset number (1, 3, 4, or 5) that you want to change speeds
2. Press the SELECTOR key and a ? mark will appear at the end of the LCD display
3. Using the Up/Down manual speed changing arrows, adjust lathe speed up or down to desired speed for this preset number
4. Press the PROGRAM key to store the new RPM value for this preset number
5. Your new rpm setting is now stored for this preset number

NOTE: Preset #2 is defaulted to 500 ... can't change it using above procedure. Can only change speeds for presets 1, 3, 4, and 5.

Assuming the videos are WMV format, try Flip4Mac -- Flip4Mac WMV Player for Mac - CNET Download.com. it has worked well for me for several years. F4M plays WMVs through QuickTime.

Thanks, John. I've been pretty happy with Flip4Mac, too. In this case, however, the files are in .mpg format which QuickTime will not read in Safari or separately. I tried downloading the video files and opening them in VLC, which I also like. For some reason, four of the videos, though different sizes(s), play the same video. Don't think they are supposed to, but I'm stymied. Russ

Thanks, Tom. I'll try that! I like to think of myself as reasonably intelligent, but, apparently, I haven't been smart enough to figure that one out before. Russ

I chanced upon this tonight and I am so happy. I have a Nova DVR XP and could not figure out how to program it. I second the motion that you write the next Tecknatool manual. I have reread mine several times and haven't found it very helpful.
