I had to disassemble some sierras and broke the tranny. I ordered some replacements but they do not work. The "ring" above the screws prevents it from screwing into the nib. I used one from a new kit and it worked fine. I can get some pictures when I get home from work.. I tried returning them but the deadline on exchanges ran out.

Mike: Would you be so kind as to advise us of where you purchased the ill-fitting transmissions? Kinda like a cheers & jeers? It could keep one of us from purchasing unusable parts. I guess maybe this goes back to Smittys' thread from yesterday about "What's in a Name" :frown: Thanks!

P.S. I was going to abbreviate transmission, but when hitting the microphone on the smart phone to check spelling and see if it was "ys" or "ies" on the end, I wound up with a transsexual porn advisory. Maybe the abbreviation for transmissions is no longer political correct!:biggrin: (for most of us)

The transmissions on the "sierras" from China are not the same size as the Berea transmission---the threads are NOT interchangeable.

This is also true of the Cigar pens.

These transmissions are not Sierra brand. They are clearly listed as a generic Parker style and they work great for their intended purpose. The threading size is also listed in the product online. While Mike did say that the return time had expired, and I appreciate that, it isn't clear that the parts had been purchased 7 months before the return request was made within the past week. This is a good reminder to check purchases when you get your order as return times vary between vendors, some are as little as 3 days! Our return policy is clearly stated on the website.

I never guarantee that transmissions I sell (other than slimlines) will work in anybody elses kits. I don't try them in other kits so I don't know if they'll work or not.

Might that also be true on some "sierra's" from Taiwan Ed? I don't know because I handle all finial twists in that style.
