.....Does anyone know of a kit that employs a LED light that can be adapted to fit in the finial area of a twist type pen? Thanks... Jan

Jan; PSI has a flashlight kit #pkplix1 gold/gun metal or pkplix2 chrome/black. Jim S

.....only problem is, it is only a flashlight. I too would love for someone to come out with an adaptation for a flashlight finial that only uses button style batteries and an LED bulb.

:bananen_smilies019: I didn't say it would be easy !! The flashlight takes 2 AAA batteries or three volts to run. There is no reason that you can't substute 2 small 1 1/2 volt disk batteries in their place. It's still three volts. This mite require a little in the box thinking. The battery box that is. I am sure someone out there that has a close relationship with duct tap or bandades can come up with a switch of some type. I would use the flashlight LED and push button switch on the top, and a twist pen kit for the bottom. Jim S

I am sure it can be done but it would take some knowledge on how to do it. To use to watch batteries you would need the bulb to be an LED and not an incandescent like PSI's. They have LED replacement bulbs but they are pricey. I wonder if you could disassemble one of those cheap LED flashlights and get the same results. Just needs a little reverse engineering. I wish I has a little more time to tackle this because that would be awesome to have a finial twist w/ Red, Green, Pink, Blue ot what ever color light in some clear PR.

:bananen_smilies051: Just finished my flashlight/pen. Has 3 LEDs and a slip ring switch that turns it off and on. It's getting close to 1 AM, so it's a little to late to set up the camera equipment now, but I promice to post photos in the morning. Jim S

:bananen_smilies022: Here are the photos I promised. The pen is my desk pen that I have shown before, so I won't go into detail on it. The flashlight part of it is from a Tool Shop Precision 14 piece screwdriver set. It has a slip ring 3 contact switch that turns on the 3 LEDs when slid over the end of the pen. When you remove the lights, they do a second duty as a base for the pen. I believe in the K.I.S.S. theory !! Keep it simple stupid. Not the rocket science you may have expected, but the best I could come up with on short notice. Next I will mate the PSI flashlight kit with a twist pen kit and make a one piece Flashlight/pen combo. Give me a few days. Jim S

Hmmmm, I'm not overly sure that I could write with that and it seems a bit too small for a reading lamp....it would look cool on the desk though.:smile:

Smitty; It's realy easy to write with, and I can do it in the dark. About the only thing I can do in the dark any more !! Jim S

Radio Shack has LED bulbs (5mm) and housings for the bulbs with a threaded lower end,
it could be done using the same principal as the old flashlight on a ruler thing.
place a lead onto hi density foam slip it into a closed end tube, place the battery power in
(you could stack hearing aid batteries) place the second connection with a switch lead hole in the center and screw the Led housing into the back side,(after you tap the tube)
you have basically built a 1/2 inch flashlight, mount the micro switch on the outside of the blank.
The blank would have to be clear with a silver tube for optimum light reflection but if a
wall st type kit were used the finial would not interfere with the pen operation.
From the playing around I've done it is more of a bright glow stick as opposed to a focused light but I did not persue it any further because I can buy one at the dollar store.
